Why I’m Running
This work is personal to me. I’ve spent my career watching families move through disconnected systems that were never designed to work together — and I’ve seen the consequences,
I’ve seen a child struggle in school, not because of ability, but because their family lost housing. I’ve seen parents lose jobs, not because of performance, but because childcare fell through. I’ve seen children enter the child welfare system, not because of abuse or neglect, but because their family lacked stability, support, or a fair shot.
These aren’t separate problems. They’re the same challenge showing up in different ways.
As a teacher, a child welfare professional, and a school board commissioner, I’ve worked at the intersection of education, childcare, and family stability. I know how often policy is written in silos while families are forced to piece things together on their own.
That’s why I’m running for State Senator in District 46 — to break down those silos and fight for real solutions at the Statehouse. Every family deserves the same thing I want for my own: stability, opportunity, and a fair shot.
I love living in Fletcher Place — where I formerly served as neighborhood association president — with my husband, Matt Impink, and our three children: Alice, Jojo, and Mari.
Priorities for district 46
-
We must fully fund public schools, support educators, and ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed.
I will work to ensure IPS is fully reimbursed for transportation, facilities, and special education services provided to innovation schools.
I support a moratorium on new charter schools.
-
We need to expand access to safe, affordable housing so families can build stability and plan for the future.
We must also protect renters by implementing safeguards for housing stability.
I will work to decriminalize homelessness, and repeal recent efforts to criminalize our unhoused neighbors.
We must expand Low-Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC) at the state level el and create incentives for converting vacant properties into affordable housing.
-
I will work to make healthcare accessible and affordable so no family has to choose between quality care and cost.
We must restore healthcare access for those impacted by Indiana’s Medicaid review to ensure no one is left behind.
I will work to repeal Indiana’s draconian abortion law.
-
I will work to increase access to quality, affordable childcare so parents can work and children can thrive.
I support CCDF expansion and will work to increase voucher enrollments.
-
Data centers need to demonstrate their benefits to our community — and they have not done that.
I support a data center moratorium as we evaluate effective ordinances to protect our communities from adverse impacts of data centers.
These are the richest companies in the history of the world. They can afford to pay their fair share. We need to appeal the tax exemptions on data centers.
This election, choose a candidate who believes in people. possibility, and the power of coming together.
